These guys never fail to amuse and entertain me. There''s weird stuff on here, and great stuff. If you own any of their other music and are considering buying this as well, do so. I admit I only have "Bloody Tourists" other than this, but I am saving to buy their complete collection. I saw a video or something on the internet about how they made "I''m Not In Love" - very interesting that all of the background music is actually the band members singing "ahhh" and "ba ba" and their producer layered it about 600 times to produce the sound you hear; which was a fairly impressive feat for the time; and since then used excessively by Enya (and others) to create that multi-layered sound. This type of engineering was used to excellent effect for the soundtrack of "Swiss Army Man" - which was made almost entirely by using layered vocals and hand claps (no instrumentation) - really beautiful soundtrack, and a great movie as well.

I bought this album when it was originally released in 1975. My initial response was disbelief, I could not believe any band, yet a group of four could pull this off. The opening track is incredible and most entertaining to be sure. As the album progresses it’s 10cc up to their tricks of word play and innuendo, and just cheeky humour. The track I’m Not in Love, a mainstream huge hit is typical of their genius. “I keep your picture upon the wall, it hides a nasty stain that’s lying there, so don’t you ask me to give it back, I know you know it doesn’t mean that much to me.” Now this is not your run of the mill love song. And 10cc was not your run of the mill rock group.
Original Soundtrack is a great album and takes me back to my twenties when popular music was still cutting edge and still great.

A masterpiece. There''s not really a bad cut on the album. Leading off is the ambitious, sometimes hilarious faux-French opus "One Night in Paris", a three part operetta with a knock-out ending that is often seen as the inspiration for Queen''s "Bohemian Rhapsody." Then comes the band''s biggest hit, "I''m Not in Love". Played out? Maybe, but try putting on the headphones and surrendering to it like it''s 1976 again. It''s as good as pop gets, with Enya-type vocal loops layered over themselves to create soaring, dreamy harmonies that still dazzle after all these listens. The delightfully wicked and very funny "Blackmail" is a pulsating piece of proto-techno with a ferocious slide guitar solo, and Lol Creme working with his Gizmo, the" instrument" he created. Hard rocking "Second Sitting for the Last Supper" is another witty song but the lyrics are sure to offend some. "Brand New Day" is a fascinating song, and as usual 10cc takes its beautiful intro in unpredictable directions. "Flying Junk" is a blues-rocker about the pusher man. "Life is a Minestrone" is the pure pop side of 10cc. They''re just having silly fun ("that Minnie Mouse has got it all sewn up/ She gets more fan mail than the Pope") and groan-inducing puns ("I''m leaning on the tower of Pisa/Had an eyeful of the tower in France"). "Film of my Love" is a satirical continental cabaret song with its mandolins, intentionally melodramatic vocals and cinematic punning. "Film" used to close the album, but now there''s two pretty solid bonus tracks, "Channel Swimmer" and "Good News." What a shame this band couldn''t keep its original lineup together. When I''m in the mood for something different, 10cc is always welcome.

Wonderful album. Une Nuit a Paris shows the group doing a mini rock opera a year before Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Some pretty tight production throughout this album.

This is my all time favourite 10cc album: A classy production done in such an effortless, laid back style by classic original 10 cc line up. Done with their usual wit and intelligence, criticism of being too artsy and getting too big for their own boots, don''t hold up in my view. This is the album they had been working hard to achieve - their third one in fact, and they certainly hit gold with it. The opening track: one nuit in Paris suite - in three parts,is pure genious.followed by the all time classic: I''m not in love (no naff single edit here). The classy tone continues, including; The second sitting for the last supper (so acidic), the hit single;life is a minestrone and concludes with the tongue-in cheek: The film of my love, bursting with class and humour as usual - a wonderful album in every way. 10 cc got the balance right with taking what they did seriously, but not themselves as much. The perfect balance to produce a classic album like: The original soundtrack.excellent re-mastered sound too. Ps: the two bonus tracks on this CD re-issue: channel swimmer and good news, plus informative sleevenotes - are a welcome inclusion.

One of my favourite albums ever. Ok, just buy it. Then buy all your friends a copy. Like others have said, a band at the height of their powers. The sheer breadth of the material covered is crazy. From cod vaudeville meets mini rock opera with jokes galore, to pop, rock, ballad and even cheesy Hollywood schmooze. Love it! I am so glad that Gouldman and Stewart managed to persuade their colleagues to trim their would-be pretentious operate into this form. Those opening"Paris" tracks were very brave for a band that many people could never categorise. Other bands may have been tempted to batten down an image or a particular sound to solidify their career or, in modern parlance, their base. 10cc went their own way. All four were great musicians, vocalists, and writers who, somehow, managed to combine their individual gifts to produce gems of hit singles and successful albums. Many will know the hits from this set but it''s the less well known songs that will stun the new listener. They have almost become a forgotten "great" group. Incidentally they also happened to be a formidable live act.

My Mum and Dad had this album and I loved it then. The band don''t put a foot wrong for most of the album. I was reminded to buy it when I saw a documentary about the bands history on TV. They were split in 2 camps for much of the time - Kevin Godley worked very well with Lol Creme and Graham Gouldman worked equally as well with Eric Stewart. On later works, the band begin to split their separate ways but here they are working in perfect harmony. From "Une Nuit En Paris", which is clearly Godley & Creme taking charge on an outrageous and batty rock opera, to "Blackmail" which includes some amazing blues guitar. On the documentary I saw legendary record producer Trevor Horn complimented "I''m not in love", making himself listen to it as a perfect example of technical wizardry in the studio and to remind himself that he still had that benchmark to attain. I''m glad I''ve got this album back in my personal collection.

The masterpiece album of a band whose intelligence, attention to detail and mastery of writing strong and unique pop songs with great hooks and melodies made them something quite special. If anything, this band''s cleverness at songwriting, multi-instrumental prowess and willingness to take risks with their use of instruments and production techniques on this album showed that at this point, they had moved so far beyond the level of routinely good pop groups. They had evolved into a kind of ''radical pop'' group. They were truly ''too clever by half'' and if you embraced this cleverness and its wit (as many but evidently not most did), you loved this group and particularly adored this album. At their peak, it always seemed to me like they were so bursting with good original song ideas and ways to express them that they somehow couldn''t last as a brilliant foursome for very much longer. This album reveals a group at the top of their game, confident with their material, willing to take risks and totally assured in their use of the studio as an instrument. These songs are teeming with smart ideas, intelligent arrangements, clever hooks and great playing, underscored by a wittiness and refusal to take themselves too seriously that is beguiling. As others rightly say, this is a masterpiece of progressive pop, and 10CC''s greatest work. Ahead of its time, it even had McCartney in awe at its depth & inventiveness.

Classic pop at it''s best, this album seemed to be played everywhere when it came out; which is probably why I never bought it at the time leaving me to think I''m Not In Love with the album. However, time passes and tastes change and I started to enjoy 10cc again and appreciate the quality of their songwriting. There isn''t a bad track on this cd, in my opinion, and is as close to a perfect pop album as anyone could get - probably. If you''ve been put off hearing the whole album because of one track - that track - give them another go and you may be pleasantly surprised.
